The government has never been wrong—right?

Dental FluorosisOver the past fifty years—the same amount of time Mt. Horeb has had fluoridated water—our government and the medical industry has changed their viewpoints on numerous public issues, such as DDT, and medications including Vioxx, Celebrex and Bextra (COX-2 Selective and Non-Selective Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs).

Fluoride is a prescription medication NEVER APPROVED BY THE FDA. Contact the village board and utility commission and ask them a few questions:

  • Why is a prescription drug added to our water?
  • How are they qualified to administer medication?
  • Who is in charge of monitoring harmful side effects?
  • Why won't the administration notify village residents of health risks?
  • Are they willing to personally take responsibility should a resident file charges against them due to health reactions caused by fluoride?
  • What number of residents being harmed would they consider "too many?"

FACT: Based on 2010 census records, of the 2,228 Households in Mt. Horeb, 233.9 of them are home to people 65 years of age or older; of the 2,228 Households in Mt. Horeb, 864.5 of them are home to families with children under the age of 18. Putting potentially 1,098.4 households at higher risk Mt. Horeb.

FACT: Bases on 2010 census records, of the 6,820 people living in Mt. Horeb, 886.6 people are 65 years of age or older; of the 6,820 people living in Mt. Horeb, 1,964.2 are children under the age of 18. Putting potentially 2,850.8 people at higher risk in Mt. Horeb, not to mention the rest of the population exposed to hydrofluorosilic acid long term.

We deserve clean, honest water in Mt. Horeb.

Honest Water is a local, grassroots organization working to end Water Fluoridation in the Mt. Horeb public water supply. We feel residents of Mt. Horeb—particularly infants, children under the age of 8 and the elderly—are at an immediate health risk by simply drinking the water supplied by the village, while residents of any age are at risk for long term health effects caused by ingesting fluoride.

Some of these include:

Dental Fluorosis, Lower IQ, ADHD, Hypothyroidism, Arthritis, Gastrointestinal dysfunction, Earlier onset of puberty among girls (pineal gland), Infertility among men, Bone disease, Osteosarcoma (bone cancer, more common in boys), Allergies
